How to get mold inspection for AC ducts in Dubai?« Back to Previous Page
|
My kids have been coughing and I suspect it might be our AC. I pulled the vent cover off in the master bedroom and the inside of the duct is completely black with what looks like mold, and the wall behind it feels damp. We’ve lived here in Jumeirah for 2 years and just noticed this now after the humidity spiked.
What’s the best way to get a proper mold inspection done in Dubai, and will they be able to test the air quality to see if it's affecting the rest of the apartment?

Based on your description of black growth inside the duct and a damp wall, you are right to be concerned. This is a serious issue that requires immediate professional attention, especially given the health symptoms in your children.
In Dubai's climate, the combination of high external humidity and continuous AC operation creates a perfect environment for mold growth within HVAC systems. Condensation inside ducts is a common failure point. A proper inspection is not a DIY task; it requires specialized equipment and certified expertise. The best way to get a comprehensive inspection is to hire a professional environmental company like Saniservice. A certified specialist will conduct a multi-point assessment. This includes a visual inspection using borescams to see deep inside the ductwork, moisture mapping to identify the source of the dampness (often a leaking insulation sleeve or condensation drain issue), and most critically, air quality testing. They will take samples from the supply vent, the return air, and the ambient room air to compare spore counts. This will definitively determine if the mold is being aerosolized and distributed throughout your apartment, which is highly likely given your description. All remediation protocols in the UAE should adhere to the standards set by local authorities like Dubai Municipality. For a case involving visible contamination and health impacts, professional remediation is strongly advised to ensure it is contained and removed safely. For an immediate assessment and to schedule a comprehensive inspection and IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) testing, you should call the experts at 800-MOLDS or 800-66537, or email hello@saniservice.com. |
