AC mold in Dubai villa: professional fix needed and cost?« Back to Previous Page

The AC in our villa in Al Barsha seems to be constantly leaking, and now we’ve found patches of black mold spreading along the wall behind the bedroom unit. We tried wiping it with vinegar but it came back even darker within a week. Is this a job for a professional mold remediation company, and what’s a realistic cost range to get this properly fixed in Dubai?

Given the recurring leak and the mold's rapid return, this absolutely requires professional remediation. Vinegar only removes surface discoloration and doesn't address the moisture source or the mycotoxins and spores embedded in porous materials like drywall. In Dubai's high humidity, this problem will continue to escalate without a proper fix.

A professional company should start with a full inspection to identify the AC leak's origin—often a clogged drain line or faulty insulation—and assess the mold's penetration depth. Remediation involves isolating the area, removing and disposing of contaminated porous materials, HEPA vacuuming, and antimicrobial treatment. Crucially, the AC system itself must be inspected and cleaned to prevent spores from recirculating.

The final cost is entirely dependent on the extent of the damage. It's driven by the square footage of affected area, the need for demolition and reconstruction of walls, and the complexity of the AC repair. For a contained leak behind a single unit, the project is typically more manageable. For widespread contamination inside the ductwork, it becomes significantly more complex. You should request a detailed, on-site assessment and a scope of work that includes both mold removal and the necessary repairs to the AC system to prevent recurrence.
