Bathroom mold here is almost inevitable due to our high humidity and condensation from ACs, but it's manageable. Start by identifying the moisture source—it's often poor ventilation. Run the bathroom exhaust fan for at least 30 minutes after every shower and ensure it vents outside, not just into the ceiling void.

For surface cleaning on tiles and silicone, a solution of white vinegar or a diluted bleach mixture (1 part bleach to 4 parts water) is effective. Apply, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then scrub. Always wear gloves and ensure the room is well-ventilated during cleaning.

If the mold has penetrated porous materials like drywall, ceiling tiles, or the back of cabinets, surface cleaning won't suffice. These materials typically need to be removed and replaced. For persistent or large-scale mold (covering more than a few square feet), a professional inspection is recommended to assess the extent and identify hidden moisture issues behind walls or under floors, which are common here. A lab test can identify the species, which is crucial for determining the right remediation approach, especially for households with allergy sufferers.
