Best product to remove bathroom mold in Dubai and prevent it?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived here in Jumeirah for 2 years and just noticed a few black spots forming in the grout between the tiles right by the shower. The bathroom doesn't have a window, so it's always a bit damp after everyone's used it in the morning. What's the best product I can find locally to kill this mold and stop it from coming back?

For that surface mold in your grout, start with a simple solution of white vinegar or a diluted bleach spray (1 part bleach to 4 parts water). Both are effective and widely available. Apply, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then scrub with a stiff brush. Always ensure the area is well-ventilated when using these products.

Preventing its return is the critical part, especially in a windowless Dubai bathroom where humidity from showers gets trapped. The most effective step is to run the bathroom's exhaust fan for at least 30 minutes after every shower to remove moisture. Wiping down wet tiles and shower surfaces with a squeegee also makes a significant difference. A small dehumidifier can help if the dampness persists.

For recurring or persistent mold, the issue may be deeper within the grout or behind the tiles, which surface cleaning cannot address. In such cases, a professional inspection can identify the source of the moisture and the extent of the growth. A science-driven approach, including lab analysis of a sample, is the only way to confirm the mold type and ensure the remediation plan is correctly targeted.
