Black mold behind wardrobe causing cough, need professional inspection?« Back to Previous Page
|
My kids have been coughing for a couple of weeks and I’m worried it’s from the black spots I just found behind our bedroom wardrobe. We’ve lived here for 2 years and just noticed this after moving the heavy furniture. Is this something I can clean myself with bleach, or do I need to call a professional company for a proper mold inspection to make sure it's not spreading inside the walls?

Visible mold behind furniture is a common issue in Dubai's humid climate, especially on exterior walls where condensation can form. The persistent cough in your children is a significant indicator that professional inspection is prudent.
Cleaning surface mold with a bleach solution is a temporary measure, but it does not address the moisture source or potential growth inside the wall cavity. Disturbing it can also release spores, potentially worsening air quality. A proper inspection identifies the mold species through lab analysis and uses moisture meters to find the hidden extent of the problem. For health concerns and suspected hidden growth, a certified assessment is recommended to determine the correct remediation strategy and ensure the environment is safe. |
