Black mold in bedroom closet: DIY or call professional?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived here for 2 years and just noticed a patch of black mold in the corner of our master bedroom closet, behind some shoe boxes. It's on the wall that faces the outside, and I'm worried the recent humidity has made it worse. What's the best way to handle this myself, or should I call a professional company here in Dubai right away?

Based on your description, this situation warrants a professional inspection. A patch of black mold on an exterior wall in a Dubai bedroom closet is a significant red flag. The UAE's high humidity, combined with year-round AC use, creates a perfect environment for mold growth. The wall's exterior-facing nature suggests a potential thermal bridging issue or a minor construction defect, where condensation is forming inside the wall cavity, a problem you cannot see or address with a simple DIY solution.

While small surface mold on non-porous materials can sometimes be cleaned with a H2O2-based solution, attempting to clean visible mold on drywall without identifying and rectifying the underlying moisture source is a temporary fix at best. Disturbing the mold improperly can also aerosolize spores, spreading the contamination to other areas of your home.

For a case like this, a professional assessment is critical. Our certified inspectors use thermal imaging cameras and moisture meters to pinpoint the exact source of the moisture intrusion behind the wall. We then provide a detailed remediation plan that follows UAE health and safety guidelines, ensuring the mold is removed at its source and the moisture issue is permanently resolved to prevent recurrence.

Given the potential health risks and structural concerns, I strongly recommend against a DIY approach. For a thorough inspection and a guaranteed solution, please contact our team at Saniservice. Call 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com to schedule an assessment.
