Black mold in closet: DIY clean or call Dubai professional?« Back to Previous Page

We’ve lived here for 2 years and just noticed a patch of black speckles in the corner of our master bedroom closet, and it's spreading. It's on the wall that faces the outside, and with all the humidity lately, I'm worried it's gotten worse behind the clothes. Is this something I can clean myself with bleach, or do I need to call a professional mold inspection company in Dubai to check for a bigger problem?

Based on your description, this is a situation that warrants significant concern and a professional inspection, not a DIY bleach cleanup. Here's why:

The location on an exterior wall is a major red flag. In Dubai's climate, this often points to a condensation issue or, more seriously, a hidden leak within the wall cavity from a faulty external waterproofing membrane or a leaking pipe. The high humidity we experience, combined with year-round AC use, creates massive temperature differentials between the conditioned interior and the hot exterior. This leads to condensation inside walls, providing the perfect, hidden environment for mold to thrive unseen. The visible patch is likely just the "tip of the iceberg."

Using bleach is strongly discouraged. It is ineffective on porous surfaces like drywall and wood, as it only bleaches the surface mold without killing the roots. More critically, it introduces excessive moisture, further fueling the mold growth you're trying to eliminate. It can also release a high volume of spores and harmful vapors into your living space.

A professional inspection is crucial. Our certified inspectors use tools like borescopes to see inside wall cavities, thermal imaging cameras to identify moisture and cold spots indicative of condensation, and hygrometers to measure humidity levels. This allows us to pinpoint the exact moisture source, which must be corrected before any remediation can be successful. Simply cleaning the surface without fixing the root cause guarantees the mold will return.

Given the spread you've described and its location, this is a serious case. I strongly recommend you call our team for a comprehensive assessment. We will identify the full extent of the problem, locate the moisture source, and provide a certified remediation protocol.
