Black mold in Dubai bedroom: proffesional cost vs DIY?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived here for 2 years and just noticed a patch of black, fuzzy mold in the corner of our master bedroom closet where we store our winter clothes. It’s on the wall and seems to be spreading a bit, and I'm worried it's from a hidden AC leak since that wall faces the outside. What’s the realistic cost range here in Dubai to get a professional to assess and remove it properly, and is it something I can handle myself with bleach or is that a bad idea?

Black mold in Dubai bedrooms is frequently linked to AC condensation leaks or high humidity from poor ventilation. Given your description of an exterior wall and potential AC leak, a professional inspection is strongly recommended to locate the moisture source—this is the only way to prevent it from returning.

DIY with bleach is ineffective and can be hazardous. Bleach only lightens the visible color on non-porous surfaces and does not kill the mold roots within porous materials like drywall. More critically, it releases the spores into the air, potentially worsening your indoor air quality and causing respiratory irritation. Scrubbing it yourself also risks exposing yourself to a high concentration of spores without proper containment or PPE.

For a patch of that size and location, professional remediation typically involves identifying and fixing the moisture source, containing the area to prevent cross-contamination, safely removing affected materials, and HEPA vacuuming to clear spores. The final cost is driven by the extent of the hidden damage and the repairs needed. You should request a detailed assessment and quote from a provider that uses lab-verified methods and provides post-remediation verification testing—this is your assurance the problem is solved correctly.
