Black mold removal cost and safety in Dubai?« Back to Previous Page

My kids have been coughing and I suspect it’s from the black mold I just found behind the wardrobe in our master bedroom. We’ve lived here for 2 years and just noticed it, probably from the AC condensation. I’m really worried about the health risks and how much it’s going to cost to get a professional company in Dubai to properly remove it and stop it from coming back. Is this a DIY job or should I definitely hire someone, and what’s a realistic price range for a bedroom-sized area?

Black mold behind furniture is a common issue in Dubai, often caused by AC condensation creating a damp microclimate. For children coughing, it's a legitimate concern as mold spores can irritate the respiratory system, worsening allergies and asthma.
This is not typically a DIY job. Proper removal requires isolating the area, using HEPA filtration to prevent spore spread, and treating the root cause—the moisture. In Dubai's climate, simply wiping it away will almost guarantee its return as the high humidity supports regrowth. A professional assessment is recommended to identify the moisture source, which is often a poorly insulated cold wall or an AC drain issue. The cost for remediation is not fixed; it depends entirely on the extent of the growth behind the wall and the repairs needed. For a contained area behind a wardrobe, expect a process that includes inspection, containment, removal of contaminated materials, antimicrobial treatment, and addressing the moisture source. Reputable companies provide detailed scopes of work and post-remediation verification, often with lab testing, to confirm the space is safe. Always request a detailed assessment and quote, as the lowest price may not address the underlying problem. |
