Can I clean black mold myself or need a pro in Dubai?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived here for 2 years and just noticed a patch of black, fuzzy mold spreading in the corner of our master bedroom closet, right on the wall. It seems worse since the humidity spiked last week, and I'm worried it's from a hidden leak in the AC unit that runs through that wall. Is this something I can clean myself with bleach from the supermarket, or do I need to call a professional company here in Dubai to handle it?

Based on your description, this is a situation that warrants a professional inspection. The presence of black, fuzzy mold spreading on an interior wall, exacerbated by high humidity, strongly indicates an underlying moisture source. In Dubai's climate, where high humidity and year-round AC use are the norm, the most likely culprits are condensation from an AC duct leak within the wall cavity or a breach in the building envelope. Surface cleaning will be entirely ineffective if the hidden moisture issue is not first identified and resolved.

While small surface mold on non-porous materials can sometimes be addressed with a detergent solution (never bleach, as it is ineffective on porous surfaces and can exacerbate the problem), your case involves a porous wall material and suggests a concealed leak. Disturbing it yourself risks spreading spores throughout your home and exposing yourself to potential mycotoxins.

According to UAE health and safety guidelines, proper remediation requires containment, professional-grade HEPA filtration to prevent cross-contamination, and the use of specialized antimicrobial agents. Our certified inspectors at Saniservice use thermal imaging cameras and moisture meters to pinpoint the exact source of the moisture intrusion without destructive exploration. Once the leak is repaired, our trained technicians will safely remediate the mold.

For a definitive diagnosis and a permanent solution, I strongly recommend you call our experts at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com to schedule an inspection. We will provide a detailed assessment and a remediation plan to ensure your home is safe and healthy.
