Can I remove bedroom mold in Dubai myself with vinegar?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived here for 2 years and just noticed a bunch of black spots spreading along the bottom of the wall behind our bedroom wardrobe in Jumeirah. It's been extra humid lately and I’m worried it’s making my allergies worse. Is this something I can tackle with a vinegar solution myself, or do I need to call in a professional mold removal company here in Dubai?

Based on the description of your situation—black spots spreading behind a wardrobe in a humid climate like Jumeirah—this is a common but potentially serious issue. The high humidity levels in Dubai, combined with condensation from year-round AC use and poor air circulation behind furniture, create an ideal breeding ground for mold.

While a vinegar solution can be a temporary, superficial DIY measure for a very small, isolated patch, it is not a recommended or effective remediation strategy for your case. The mold behind your wardrobe is likely penetrating the porous wall material (plaster, drywall). Vinegar will only clean the surface and will not address the root moisture problem or the hyphae (root structure) growing within the wall. Furthermore, improper cleaning can inadvertently release a large number of spores into the air, potentially worsening your allergy symptoms.

In the UAE, professional mold remediation is advised. We follow strict protocols for containment, HEPA filtration, and antimicrobial treatment to ensure complete removal and prevent cross-contamination. For your health and the integrity of your property, a professional inspection is crucial to determine the extent of the infestation and the source of moisture.
