The problem could be a small, hidden leak from the building's envelope, a breach in the vapor barrier, or even a condensate drain line from an AC unit running within the wall. Spraying vinegar only bleaches the visible mold on the surface but does nothing to address the hidden moisture source or the root structure (hyphae) growing potentially deep into the drywall or backing material.

A professional inspection is crucial.
