Cost to remove black mold in Dubai bathroom?« Back to Previous Page

We’ve lived in our Jumeirah Park villa for 2 years and just noticed a patch of black mold growing in the corner where the shower meets the ceiling. It’s been really humid lately and the bathroom’s small window doesn’t seem to be enough for ventilation. I’m worried about my toddler breathing that in. What’s the typical cost range for professional mold remediation for a small area like this, and is it something I can safely tackle myself with products from ACE Hardware?

Good question. This is a very common issue in Dubai, especially with our high humidity levels and the construction materials used in many villas.

For a small, localized patch of black mold at the shower-ceiling junction, the cost for professional remediation can range from AED 800 to AED 1,500. This typically includes a preliminary assessment, containment of the area, HEPA vacuuming, antimicrobial application to kill the mold spores, and a final wipe-down. The price can vary based on the company's certifications and if the ceiling material (often gypsum board) has been compromised and needs a small repair.

While a DIY approach with a mold-killing product from ACE is possible for a very small surface area, I strongly advise caution. The key is not just to wipe away the visible stain but to kill the root structure. More importantly, disturbing mold without proper containment can aerosolize spores, spreading them through your AC system and making the air quality worse for your toddler.

Given the location (a ceiling, which is porous) and your concern for your child's health, a professional inspection is the safest route. We'd need to check for moisture penetration from above and assess the HVAC system, as spores can travel. Dubai Municipality has guidelines on indoor air quality, and a certified inspector will ensure the remediation meets those standards.

For a definitive assessment and quote, it's best to have a specialist look at it. You can call our team at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com for a consultation.
