How to find certified mold inspector in JVC?« Back to Previous Page

The AC in my apartment in Jumeirah Village Circle has been making this damp, earthy smell every time it kicks on for the last couple of weeks. We had that really humid spell last month and I’m worried moisture built up inside the ducts. I’ve started wiping down the windowsills more often because of condensation. What’s the best way to find a certified mold inspector here to check the AC unit and vents before it becomes a bigger problem?

Look for a Dubai Municipality-approved company with specific HVAC and ductwork inspection credentials. The damp, earthy smell you describe, especially after a humid period, strongly suggests microbial growth within the system, and wiping condensation is a good indicator of high indoor humidity.

A proper inspection involves more than a visual check; it should include surface swabs and air quality tests from both the supply vents and the return air grille. These samples must be analyzed by an accredited microbiology lab to identify the species present, as this determines the actual health risk and required remediation scope.

Ask any potential inspector for their certification documents, such as from IICRC or IAQA, and insist on seeing a sample report to ensure it includes detailed lab results. Avoid companies that offer a free "mold test" but then push for an immediate, expensive cleaning without providing verifiable data. For a situation involving the AC unit and hidden ductwork, a professional assessment is the most reliable way to prevent a larger problem.
