How to get mold inspection for humid villa bedroom?« Back to Previous Page
|
We've lived in our villa in Springs for 2 years and just noticed a patch of black speckles in the corner of our master bedroom closet. It's on the wall that faces the outside, and the room has felt more humid than the rest of the house lately, even with the AC running constantly. I'm worried it's gotten worse since the heavy dew we had last week. What's the best way to get a proper mold inspection done here, and should I be checking anywhere else specifically?

Start with a thorough visual inspection of the entire perimeter of that bedroom, especially the wall where the black speckles appeared. Check for any signs of water intrusion, such as peeling paint, damp drywall, or a musty odor. Given the recent heavy dew and constant AC use, the issue is likely condensation-related.
For a proper inspection, you should hire a professional who uses a combination of moisture meters, thermal imaging, and, most critically, air and surface sampling that is sent to an accredited microbiology lab for analysis. The lab report is what identifies the type of mold and its concentration, which determines the necessary remediation steps. In Dubai, look for providers who can show you their lab credentials and explain their sampling methodology clearly. You should also check other common high-humidity areas. Inspect behind furniture pushed against exterior walls, inside other closets on that side of the villa, and around all AC supply vents for condensation buildup. The AC unit itself, including the ductwork and drip pan, is another frequent source of hidden mold that can spread spores throughout the room. A comprehensive inspection will assess these areas to find the moisture source, as simply cleaning the visible spot is rarely a permanent solution. |
