How to permanently fix black mold on damp bedroom wall?« Back to Previous Page

My kids have been coughing and I suspect it’s from the black mold I just found along the bottom of our bedroom wall in Silicon Oasis. It’s the wall facing the outside, and it feels slightly damp. We keep the AC on most of the time, so I'm confused. What’s the best way to permanently fix this and stop it from coming back?

The black mold you've described is a serious concern, especially given the health symptoms and the dampness on an exterior wall in Silicon Oasis. This is a classic case of a thermal bridge issue exacerbated by Dubai's climate. The constant AC use creates a significant temperature differential between the cool interior and the hot, humid exterior. When the cool air hits the poorly insulated wall, it causes condensation to form inside, providing the perfect environment for Stachybotrys chartarum (black mold) to thrive.

A permanent fix is not a simple cleaning. First, you must identify and eliminate the moisture source. This requires a professional inspection with thermal imaging and moisture meters to confirm the exact condensation points and rule out hidden leaks. The wall cavity may require injection of thermal break materials to prevent condensation. The mold itself must be remediated according to Dubai Municipality and EPA guidelines, which involves containment, HEPA filtration, and antimicrobial treatment of the affected structure to eliminate the colony and prevent spore dissemination during removal. Simply wiping it spreads toxic spores.

For your family's health and a guaranteed solution, I strongly recommend a certified assessment. Our teams at Saniservice are equipped with the necessary tools and follow UAE-specific protocols to diagnose the root cause and execute a permanent remediation plan.
