How to permanently remove closet mold in humid AC room?« Back to Previous Page

My bedroom closet on the inside wall has a small patch of black mold that came back just a few weeks after I wiped it off. The room is in our villa in Mirdif and we run the AC constantly. I'm worried it's spreading behind the clothes. What's the best long-term solution to kill it for good and stop the humidity from causing it again?

The recurring mold in your Mirdif villa closet is a classic symptom of a high-humidity microenvironment, a common issue in Dubai due to our climate and constant AC use. Simply wiping it away is insufficient as it only removes the surface spores, not the root cause: condensation and persistent moisture.

The mold's location on an interior wall suggests a possible thermal bridge—a cold spot where the wall structure meets the outside heat, causing condensation inside the closet. This moisture, trapped by stored clothes, creates the perfect breeding ground for mold. The growth is almost certainly present behind and possibly within the drywall.

For a permanent solution, a professional inspection is critical. We would use thermal imaging cameras to identify the exact condensation points and hygrometers to measure humidity levels within the wall cavity. Remediation involves isolating the area, removing affected porous materials (drywall, insulation), and treating the cavity with EPA-approved biocides. Crucially, the long-term fix requires addressing the humidity source. This may involve improving closet ventilation, installing a dehumidifier, or applying anti-condensation insulation to the problem wall to break the thermal bridge.

Given the health risks of mycotoxin exposure and the technical nature of permanent remediation, I strongly recommend a certified assessment.
