How to quickly remove mold and stop allergy symptoms?« Back to Previous Page

Our villa in Al Barsha has been so humid since the heavy rains a few weeks back. I've started waking up with a stuffy nose and itchy eyes, and I've just discovered black speckles growing along the bottom of the wardrobe in my bedroom where it meets the wall. What's the fastest way to deal with this to stop our symptoms, and should I be calling a professional cleaning company or is this something I can handle myself with stuff from ACE?

Based on your description of the black speckles on the wardrobe and your allergic symptoms (stuffy nose, itchy eyes), you are almost certainly dealing with a Cladosporium or possibly a Stachybotrys (toxic black mold) infestation. This is a direct result of the recent heavy rains and the subsequent spike in humidity, which is a persistent issue in Dubai's climate, especially in areas like Al Barsha where properties can trap moisture.

The fastest way to stop your symptoms is to immediately address both the mold and the humidity source. Do not attempt to clean this with bleach or products from ACE. These are ineffective on porous surfaces like wood and drywall, as they only bleach the surface mold without killing the root mycelium. More critically, improper agitation will release a massive amount of toxic spores into your bedroom air, severely exacerbating your allergies.

For a localized issue, a professional remediation company can perform a targeted intervention. This involves setting up containment with negative air pressure to prevent spore spread, HEPA vacuuming the affected areas, and using EPA-approved, specialized antimicrobial agents to eradicate the mold colony at its root. Simultaneously, the source of the humidity must be identified—likely condensation from AC units or residual dampness in the walls from the rain.

Given your symptoms and the visible growth, a professional inspection is non-negotiable. We are mandated by Dubai Municipality guidelines to not only remediate but also to identify and resolve the moisture source to prevent recurrence. For immediate action and to ensure the health of your family, I strongly recommend you call our certified team for a comprehensive inspection and rapid response.
