The AC unit in our villa in Al Barsha has been leaking a bit of water onto the carpet in the corner of the master bedroom. I just pulled back the edge of the carpet and found a few small black, speckled patches on the underside and the concrete floor beneath feels damp. I’m really worried this is the start of black mold, especially with the humidity rising. What’s the best way to dry this out and treat the area to prevent it from spreading?

Stop using that AC unit immediately and address the leak first. Mold cannot be controlled without stopping the moisture source. In Dubai's climate, damp concrete and carpet backing create a perfect environment for mold growth within 24-48 hours.

For the small patches you described, carefully lift the carpet edge to expose the area fully. Use a wet/dry vacuum to extract as much water as possible from the carpet and pad. Direct a fan towards the damp concrete floor to accelerate drying; this may take several days. Once completely dry, the black speckles can be scrubbed with a detergent solution. However, this only addresses surface mold you can see.
