Is AC leak causing dangerous mold in my apartment?« Back to Previous Page

The AC in our apartment in Jumeirah Park seems to be leaking a bit of water onto the carpet in the living room. I just pulled the corner of the carpet back today and found a few small black spots on the concrete underneath. With the humidity coming back, how urgently do I need to get a professional to look at this before it becomes a huge problem?

Based on your description, this situation requires immediate professional attention. An AC condensate leak in a Dubai apartment, particularly with the rising humidity, creates a perfect environment for rapid mold proliferation. The black spots you see on the concrete are almost certainly the beginning of a mold colony.

The water from the leak provides the moisture, the concrete and carpet backing offer an organic food source, and the UAE's climate provides the ideal warm temperature. Even after the visible water is gone, the concrete slab will retain that moisture, allowing mold to thrive unseen. The concern is not just the visible spots; microbial growth can spread extensively within the carpet underlay and the porous concrete itself, leading to musty odors and potential health issues.

We strongly recommend a professional inspection. DIY assessments are insufficient as they miss hidden growth and air quality issues. A certified mold inspector will conduct a comprehensive assessment, including moisture mapping of the affected area, thermal imaging to identify the full extent of water intrusion, and air quality testing to determine spore concentration levels. This data is critical for developing an effective remediation protocol.

For a proper assessment and to prevent this from escalating into a major structural and health issue, please contact our specialists. Call Saniservice at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com to schedule an inspection. Addressing this now is far more cost-effective than dealing with a widespread contamination later.
