Is AC mold in Dubai urgent for health?« Back to Previous Page
|
We've lived here for 2 years and just noticed a patch of black mold in the corner of our master bedroom closet, behind some shoes. The AC unit is right on the other side of that wall, and with this humidity, I'm worried it's spreading inside the ductwork. My wife has started getting headaches and I'm getting really concerned about our health. How urgently do I need to get a professional mold removal company involved here in Dubai, and should I be worried about the AC system?

Based on the symptoms you've described, particularly your wife's headaches and the location near the AC unit, this situation should be treated as urgent. In Dubai's climate, where high humidity and constant AC use create a perfect environment for mold, a small visible patch is often just the tip of the iceberg. The fact that it is located on an interior wall adjacent to the AC unit is a major red flag.
The primary concern is that the mold has infiltrated the AC ductwork. If this has occurred, the system will actively aerosolize and distribute mold spores throughout your entire living space every time it operates. This explains the systemic health symptoms like headaches, which can be caused by mycotoxin exposure or allergic reactions. Spores from species like Aspergillus or Stachybotrys (black mold) are particularly problematic. Do not attempt to clean this yourself. Disturbing the colony without proper containment can cause a massive release of spores. UAE regulations and best practices require professional assessment and remediation to ensure it is handled safely and effectively, preventing cross-contamination. You need a certified mold inspection immediately. A professional will conduct air quality tests inside the closet, the bedroom, and, crucially, within the AC ductwork to determine the extent of contamination. Based on those findings, a full remediation protocol—including HVAC system hygienization—will be necessary. For a certified inspection and urgent remediation, I strongly recommend contacting our specialists at Saniservice. Call 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com to schedule an assessment. This is not a matter to delay given the health implications and potential for rapid spread within the AC system. |
