Is AED 2,500 reasonable for black mold removal?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived here for 2 years and just noticed a patch of black mold spreading on the wall behind the wardrobe in our master bedroom. It's a decent size now, about the size of a dinner plate, and I'm worried the AC's humidity made it worse. I got a quote for AED 2,500 from one company to treat it, but is that a reasonable price for a single room, or should I get more quotes?

That price seems high for treating a single patch of mold the size of a dinner plate, unless the inspection revealed a much more extensive problem hidden within the wall or AC system. In Dubai's climate, the AC is often the source of hidden moisture, so a proper remediation must include inspecting and treating the unit and ductwork to prevent immediate recurrence.

For a localized issue, the process typically involves containment to prevent spore spread, physical removal of contaminated materials like drywall, HEPA vacuuming, antimicrobial treatment, and confirming the moisture source is resolved. You should absolutely obtain two more quotes. Any reputable provider will first conduct a detailed inspection to determine the full scope before giving a fixed price. They should also explain their remediation protocol and be able to provide a post-clearance verification, such as air testing, to confirm the space is safe.

The initial high quote may include these diagnostic and verification steps, which are critical for a lasting solution. Don't proceed with any company that offers a firm price without a thorough on-site assessment first.
