Is AED 3,500 a fair price for mold removal?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived here for 2 years and just noticed a large patch of black, fuzzy mold spreading on the wall behind our bedroom wardrobe, probably from the AC unit's condensation. My wife has started getting bad headaches and we're worried about our two-year-old. I got a quote from one company for AED 3,500 to treat it, but I have no idea if that's a fair price for a villa in Al Barsha. Is this a normal cost, or should I get more quotes before committing?

For a villa in Al Barsha with visible growth behind a wardrobe and associated health symptoms, a comprehensive remediation quote is expected. The price should reflect the scope: isolating the area, removing affected materials like drywall, HEPA vacuuming, treating the cavity with antimicrobials, and addressing the AC condensation leak that caused it. Given the health concerns for a child and the potential for hidden damage behind walls, this scope justifies a higher cost.

Always get at least two more quotes from certified providers. The critical differentiator isn't the lowest price but a clear, science-backed process. A legitimate company will provide a detailed scope of work, explain their containment procedures to prevent cross-contamination, and—most importantly—include post-remediation verification (PRV) testing from an independent lab to confirm the air quality is safe before you pay. This testing is your proof the job was done correctly.

Any quote without a defined protocol for containment, removal, and final verification is not a fair price, regardless of the amount. The initial moisture source from the AC unit must also be repaired; otherwise, the mold will return. Given the symptoms, do not delay professional assessment.
