Is AED 3,500 a fair price for mold treatment?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived in our Jumeirah villa for 2 years and just noticed a patch of black mold in the corner of the master bedroom closet, behind some clothes. It’s been really humid lately and I’m worried it’s spread behind the wall. I got a quote from one company for AED 3,500 to treat it, but is that a normal price for a smallish area, or should I get more quotes?

That quote seems high for a single patch of mold, even in Dubai. Without knowing the extent of the problem behind the wall, it's difficult to assess if it's fair. Mold remediation costs here are driven by the required containment procedures to prevent cross-contamination, not just the visible patch.
In a Jumeirah villa with high humidity, the real concern is the moisture source. The treatment is pointless without first identifying and fixing the leak or condensation issue causing it. A proper assessment should include moisture mapping with a thermal camera or hygrometer to see if it has spread. For a suspected contained area, get at least two more quotes. Any reputable company will provide a detailed scope of work specifying the containment measures, HEPA air scrubbing, removal protocols, and post-remediation verification. Be wary of companies that quote without this diagnostic phase. The Dubai climate means hidden condensation in AC ducts or walls is common, so a professional inspection to define the full scope is a wise investment before committing to any treatment. |
