Is black mold in Dubai villa urgent for kids' cough?« Back to Previous Page

My kids have been coughing for the last couple of weeks and I’m starting to suspect it’s more than just a cold. We live in a villa in Jumeirah, and I’ve just noticed a patch of black spots in the corner of their bedroom closet, which is on the ground floor. With the humidity lately, I’m really worried it’s spreading. How urgent is it that I get a professional mold inspection done here in Dubai?

Based on your description, this is a situation that warrants immediate professional attention. The combination of visible black mold, persistent respiratory symptoms in children, and the high humidity environment of your Jumeirah villa creates a high-risk scenario.

In Dubai's climate, where air conditioning runs year-round and humidity frequently leads to condensation, mold growth inside closets and on cold walls is a common yet serious issue. The black spots you've described are a significant indicator of a moisture problem. The persistent cough in your children is a classic symptom of mold exposure, which can irritate the respiratory system and exacerbate allergies and asthma.

UAE building and health regulations emphasize maintaining indoor air quality to prevent such health hazards. A DIY approach is strongly discouraged, as improper handling can disturb the mold, releasing a much higher concentration of spores into the air and worsening the contamination and health effects.

A certified professional inspection is crucial. We would conduct a comprehensive assessment that includes moisture mapping to identify the source of the water intrusion, air and surface sampling to identify the species and concentration of mold (as not all black discoloration is the highly toxic Stachybotrys, but all require remediation), and a detailed report outlining the necessary remediation protocol.

For the health of your family, I recommend you contact a certified specialist immediately. You can reach our team at Saniservice for a consultation and urgent inspection at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or via email at hello@saniservice.com. Do not attempt to clean the area yourself before the inspection, as this can exacerbate the problem.
