Is closet mold in Dubai an urgent issue?« Back to Previous Page
|
We've lived in our villa in Al Barsha for about five years, and I've just noticed a patch of black spots growing in the corner of our master bedroom closet, behind some storage boxes. It wasn't there when I did a deep clean a few months ago, but with the recent humidity, it seems to have appeared almost overnight. How urgent is it to get a professional mold inspection done here, and is this something that can wait a week?

Closet mold in Dubai's climate is often urgent due to the high humidity and potential for rapid spread. The patch behind your boxes is a visible sign, but the main concern is what's hidden inside the wall or under flooring, especially since it appeared quickly during humid weather.
For a small, surface-level patch (less than one square meter) that appeared recently, you can clean it yourself with a vinegar solution and monitor it. However, given its location in a closet against a wall, a professional inspection is strongly recommended. This is to rule out a larger moisture issue, like a small plumbing leak from an adjacent bathroom or condensation within the wall cavity from your AC system. In villas, mold behind walls is a common issue we see in labs, often stemming from minor, unnoticed leaks. Waiting a week could allow it to spread significantly. A proper inspection uses moisture meters and borescopes to assess the wall's interior without unnecessary damage. They can identify if the mold is active and the true source of moisture, which is critical for a permanent solution, not just a surface clean. |
