Is hidden mold causing our health issues and how to remove?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived here for 2 years and just noticed a bunch of black spots spreading behind our bedroom wardrobe. Since the humidity spiked last month, my wife and I have both had constant stuffy noses and headaches we can't shake. I'm really worried this mold is the cause. What's the most effective way to get rid of it for good, and should we be getting a professional company in to handle it?

Persistent headaches and congestion after a humidity spike, combined with visible black mould growth, strongly suggest your symptoms are related. The confined space behind a wardrobe is a classic hotspot for mould in Dubai, as it traps humid air and prevents circulation, allowing colonies to thrive.

For a confirmed hidden infestation, professional remediation is strongly advised. DIY cleaning with bleach or vinegar often fails to address the root moisture source and can disturb spores, worsening airborne contamination. Professionals use containment barriers, HEPA filtration scrubbers, and industrial dehumidifiers to safely remove the biomass and return the area to a measurable, mould-free condition. The initial inspection and testing are critical to identify the exact moisture source—whether it’s condensation from your AC, a minor pipe leak, or vapour drive through the wall—and to map the full extent.

Post-remediation, focus on humidity control. Keep AC running to maintain indoor humidity below 60%, ensure furniture is slightly away from walls to promote airflow, and consider a dehumidifier for the room. Solving the moisture problem is the only way to prevent it from returning. Given your symptoms and the description, a certified assessment is the most reliable first step.
