Is mold removal expensive for one room in Dubai?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived here for 2 years and just noticed a bunch of black spots spreading on the wall behind our bedroom wardrobe, which is on an external wall. I'm worried it's from the humidity and AC leaks that are so common here. I got one quote for a full treatment that was almost 3,000 AED, which seems really steep for one room. Is this a normal price for professional mold removal in Dubai, or can I handle this myself with cleaners from ACE?

A 3,000 AED quote for one room is on the higher end of the spectrum and warrants a closer look. The final cost is rarely just about the visible mold; it hinges on the root cause and extent of the contamination. For your situation—black spots on an external wall, potentially from AC leaks or humidity—the critical first step is a professional inspection to identify the moisture source.

The Dubai climate, with its high humidity and year-round AC use, creates perfect conditions for mold behind furniture on cold external walls due to condensation. Simply wiping the surface with a cleaner from ACE is a temporary fix at best. The mold will almost certainly return if the underlying moisture issue from a potential AC drip line leak or wall condensation isn't resolved.

A legitimate remediation quote should include three core components: addressing the moisture source (like sealing the wall or repairing the AC), proper containment and removal of affected materials if necessary, and HEPA vacuuming to remove spores. The highest cost comes from invasive procedures, like opening up a wall to treat the cavity, which might be required if the growth is extensive behind the wardrobe.

Before proceeding, get a second assessment. Any reputable provider should offer a detailed inspection and explain exactly why the cost is what it is, linking it to a specific remediation protocol. For a smaller, surface-level issue, professional-grade cleaning and moisture control can be less intensive. However, for widespread growth or if the wall itself is damp, the process is more involved and the cost you were quoted may be aligned with the required scope of work.
