We've lived here for 2 years and just noticed a patch of black fuzzy mold in the corner of our master bedroom closet, which is on an interior wall. It’s been getting worse since the weather got more humid a couple of months ago. I'm worried about my family's health but also don't want to overpay for a small job. What’s the typical cost range in Dubai to get a small area of black mold professionally treated, and is it absolutely necessary to call someone or can I tackle this myself with a bleach solution?

The cost depends entirely on the mold's cause and extent. For a small, isolated patch, professional remediation is often an affordable, fixed-price job. However, if the moisture source is a hidden leak within the wall, the scope and cost increase significantly for proper repair.

DIY with bleach is not recommended. Bleach only removes surface discoloration and can worsen the problem by adding moisture. More critically, it doesn't address the underlying humidity issue, so regrowth is almost certain in Dubai's climate. For a small patch, a solution of distilled white vinegar or a dedicated mold-cleaning product applied with proper PPE (gloves, N95 mask) can be attempted.

Given its location on an interior wall and progression with humidity, this suggests a condensation issue, which is extremely common here. The real solution is identifying and controlling that moisture source. A professional inspection is the most cost-effective first step to determine if this is a surface issue or a symptom of a larger problem, ensuring you only pay for what is absolutely necessary.
