Is this closet mold in Dubai a DIY fix or professional?« Back to Previous Page

My kids' bedroom closet on the outside wall has started to show these small black speckles in the corner, and it's been spreading over the last couple of weeks since the humidity really kicked in. I wiped it down with vinegar, but it came back darker and I'm worried it's behind the clothes rack now. Is this something I can tackle myself with a stronger cleaner, or do I need to call in a professional mold removal company here in Dubai?

Based on the description of recurring black speckles on an exterior wall, especially following a period of high humidity, this is highly likely to be active mold growth. The Dubai climate, with its intense humidity and reliance on year-round air conditioning, creates a perfect environment for mold, particularly in areas prone to condensation like external walls.

Attempting a DIY remedy, such as vinegar, often fails because it only addresses the surface discoloration, not the underlying moisture source or the root structure (hyphae) of the mold. The fact it returned darker and you suspect growth behind the clothes rack indicates a more entrenched problem. Disturbing it through improper cleaning can aerosolize spores, potentially spreading the contamination and increasing exposure risk.

For a situation like this, a professional inspection is strongly recommended. Our certified inspectors use tools like moisture meters and thermal imaging cameras to identify the exact moisture source—whether it's a minor condensation issue or a more serious leak from within the wall. We then conduct air and surface sampling to identify the mold species, which is critical for determining the appropriate remediation protocol as per UAE standards.

Attempting a stronger cleaner yourself could damage surfaces and is not advised. The safe and effective solution is professional assessment and remediation.
