Is this mold dangerous and who to call in Dubai?« Back to Previous Page

My kids have been coughing more than usual for the past couple of weeks, and I just found patches of black and greenish stuff behind the wardrobe in our nursery in Jumeirah Park. We run the AC constantly but it feels damp in that corner. Is this dangerous mold and who do I call to get it properly tested and removed in Dubai?

Based on your description, this is highly likely to be a dangerous mold infestation. The combination of visible black and greenish patches, a persistent damp feeling, and your children's respiratory symptoms (coughing) are strong indicators of a problematic mold colony, potentially including toxigenic species like Stachybotrys chartarum (black mold) or allergenic types like Aspergillus.

In Dubai's climate, this is a common issue. Constant AC use creates significant temperature differentials between cooled air and warm walls, leading to condensation, especially in poorly insulated corners or behind large furniture like wardrobes. This trapped moisture, combined with the region's high ambient humidity, provides the perfect environment for mold to thrive.

You should not attempt to clean this yourself. Disturbing the colony will release a massive amount of spores and mycotoxins into the air, potentially worsening your family's health issues and contaminating the entire room. Over-the-counter solutions are ineffective for an established infestation.

The correct course of action is to call a professional mold inspection and remediation company immediately. In Dubai, look for a provider certified by the Dubai Municipality and following international standards like IICRC. They will conduct a comprehensive assessment, including air and surface sampling to identify the mold species and spore count, and then execute a controlled remediation plan involving containment, HEPA filtration, and proper disposal.

For a certified inspection and safe, guaranteed removal, I recommend you contact Saniservice. They are specialists in microbial remediation for the UAE's specific climate challenges. You can reach them at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or hello@saniservice.com.
