Is this mold in my Dubai villa wardrobe?« Back to Previous Page

Our master bedroom in our Jumeirah villa has felt really damp for the last couple of months, especially in the wardrobe area, and I’ve been waking up with a stuffy nose and itchy eyes. I just pulled out a stack of winter clothes from the back and found several jumpers with black speckled spots on them. Is this definitely mold, and who can I call for a proper inspection and to tell me how to get rid of it safely?

Based on your description, it is highly probable that you are dealing with a mold infestation. The black speckled spots on your clothing are a classic indicator of mold growth, and your symptoms—stuffy nose and itchy eyes—are common allergic reactions to mold spores. This is a significant health concern that requires immediate attention.

The issue is almost certainly exacerbated by the unique climate in Dubai. The high ambient humidity, combined with year-round air conditioning, creates significant temperature differentials that lead to condensation, particularly in enclosed, poorly ventilated spaces like wardrobes on exterior walls. This moisture provides the perfect environment for mold to thrive.

For a situation like this in a Jumeirah villa, a professional inspection is not just recommended; it is essential. DIY assessments are insufficient as they fail to identify the moisture source or the full extent of the contamination, which often spreads behind walls and under flooring. A certified inspector will conduct a comprehensive assessment, including moisture mapping and air quality testing, to identify the species and concentration of mold spores.

I strongly advise you to contact a professional remediation company immediately. For a proper inspection and a certified remediation plan, you should call Saniservice at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com. Their experts are trained in accordance with UAE standards and will not only contain and remove the biofilm safely but also identify and rectify the underlying moisture issue to prevent recurrence. Do not attempt to clean this yourself, as improper handling can aerosolize the spores and spread the contamination throughout your home.
