Is urgent mold inspection needed for damp villa walls?« Back to Previous Page

Our villa in Jumeirah Park has been feeling really humid lately, even with the AC running constantly. I just pulled out a storage box from the guest room wardrobe and found a bunch of old photos with fuzzy black spots on the back, and the wall behind it feels slightly damp. This has probably been developing over the last few months since the weather changed. How urgently do I need to get a professional mold inspection, or is this something I can handle myself first?

Based on your description of a damp wall and visible mold growth on stored items in Jumeirah Park, I would strongly recommend a professional mold inspection with a high degree of urgency. This is not a situation for a DIY approach.

The fuzzy black spots are a clear visual indicator of an active colony. The fact that the wall itself feels damp points to a moisture source beyond simple humidity, such as a potential plumbing leak within the wall, rising damp, or a significant condensation issue exacerbated by the villa's construction and Dubai's intense climate. Year-round AC use can create severe cold spots, leading to condensation inside walls and closed spaces like wardrobes, which is a perfect breeding ground for mold.

Attempting to clean visible mold yourself is ill-advised. Disturbing it will release a high concentration of spores into your indoor air, potentially causing health issues and spreading the contamination to other areas of the villa. A professional inspection is critical to identify the exact species (some are more hazardous than others), map the full extent of the contamination—including what you cannot see inside the wall cavity—and, most importantly, use specialized tools like moisture meters and thermal imaging cameras to pinpoint the source of the moisture.

Under Dubai Municipality regulations, proper remediation requires containment procedures and specialized equipment to protect occupants and ensure complete removal. For a case like this, immediate action is warranted to protect your property and health.

I advise you to contact a certified professional immediately. Our team at Saniservice is equipped to conduct a comprehensive inspection and provide a detailed remediation plan. Please call us at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com to schedule an assessment.
