Mold cleanup cost for small bedroom in Dubai?« Back to Previous Page

The AC in our apartment in Jumeirah Village Circle has been making us all a bit congested, and I just pulled back the corner of the bedroom carpet and found a patch of black mold underneath, probably from a slow AC leak. I’m worried it’s spread further than I can see. For a small bedroom, are we talking a few hundred dirhams for a cleanup, or is this a major job that requires moving out for a few days, and is it worth just hiring professionals straight away?

The cost depends entirely on the extent of the hidden damage, which is common here due to high humidity and AC condensation. For a small bedroom, if the mold is truly confined to a single visible patch from a known leak, cleanup may be straightforward. However, mold under carpet often means it has spread to the underlay and possibly the subfloor.

In Dubai's climate, a slow AC leak creates an ideal environment for mold to grow deep into porous materials. You should assume it has spread further than you can see. A professional inspection with a moisture meter is essential to assess the full scope without destructive tearing. For a proper remediation, moving out for 1-2 days is often recommended to contain spores during the process and allow for drying.

It is absolutely worth hiring professionals for this. DIY attempts often disturb spores and spread the problem. A reputable company will isolate the area, remove contaminated materials like the carpet and underlay, HEPA-vacuum and treat the subfloor, and verify the cleanup with post-remediation testing. This is not a minor job, but addressing it properly now prevents a much larger and more expensive problem later.
