Mold in JVC apartment: professional remediation needed and cost?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived in our Jumeirah Village Circle apartment for 2 years and just noticed a bunch of black spots spreading from the corner of our master bedroom closet. It’s on the wall that faces the outside, and it’s gotten way worse since the heavy dew last week. I'm worried it's making my allergies act up. Is this a job for a professional mold remediation company, and roughly how much would it cost to get a small area like this treated?

Based on your description, that absolutely sounds like a case for professional mold inspection and remediation. The location on an external wall, exacerbated by the recent humidity and dew, is a classic sign of a condensation issue, which is extremely common in JVC apartments due to the construction materials and our high ambient humidity levels.

First, do not attempt to clean it yourself with bleach, as this can aggravate the spores and worsen airborne contamination, explaining your allergy symptoms. A professional inspection (costing approx. AED 500-800) is critical to identify the moisture source—it could be a minor leak, a thermal bridge in the wall, or simply chronic condensation. This inspection will include moisture mapping and air quality testing to determine the spore count.

For a small, contained area like a closet corner, remediation cost can vary. If it's surface-level and the moisture source is simple to address, you might be looking at AED 1,500 - 3,500 for full containment, HEPA vacuuming, antimicrobial treatment, and verification testing. However, if the drywall is compromised and requires removal, the cost will increase.

UAE regulations, particularly from Dubai Municipality, have strict guidelines for proper mold removal to prevent cross-contamination, which is why DIY is not advised. I strongly recommend getting a certified specialist on site to assess it properly.

Call 800-MOLDS or 800-66537 to schedule an inspection; we can give you a precise quote and a scope of work to ensure it's done safely and permanently.
