Mold in Mirdif villa closet: professional cost and necessity?« Back to Previous Page

We’ve lived in our villa in Mirdif for 2 years and just noticed some black speckled mold in the corner of our master bedroom closet on the outside wall. It's gotten worse since the last round of heavy rains. I’m worried it’s a bigger issue behind the wall and I have no idea what it should cost to get it professionally inspected and removed here. Is it worth hiring a professional mold remediation company for something like this, and what’s a reasonable price range I should expect for an inspection and a small job?

That pattern on your closet wall is a common issue in Dubai villas, particularly after heavy rain. Given its location on an exterior wall and its recent growth, a professional inspection is strongly recommended. The visible mold is likely just the surface indication of a larger moisture problem within the wall cavity, possibly from a small leak or, more commonly, thermal bridging and condensation from the extreme temperature differential between our hot outdoor climate and your air-conditioned room.

For a proper inspection, expect a comprehensive assessment that includes moisture mapping with a thermal camera and a humidity meter to identify the exact condensation point. A small job involving opening a section of the drywall, remediating the mold inside, treating the area, and repairing the wall is a standard procedure. Pricing for inspection plus remediation is not fixed and depends entirely on the extent of the hidden damage. You should obtain at least two detailed assessments that break down the diagnostic process and the scope of remediation work, not just a final price.

Many villa owners in Mirdif and similar communities face this exact problem. While it might seem minor, addressing the root moisture cause is crucial to prevent structural damage and potential health issues from prolonged spore exposure. The right company will focus on solving the condensation issue to prevent recurrence, not just removing the visible stain.
