Mold remediation cost for villa and DIY safety?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived in our villa in Al Barsha for 2 years and just noticed a large patch of black mold behind the wardrobe in the master bedroom, probably from a small hidden leak. I'm really worried about my family's health, especially my toddler who has been sneezing a lot lately. What's the typical price range for a professional mold inspection and remediation for something like this, and is it worth hiring a pro or can I handle it myself with bleach?

For a hidden leak and visible black mold behind a wardrobe, a professional inspection is strongly advised, especially with a toddler experiencing symptoms. The cost for inspection and remediation in a Dubai villa typically depends on the extent of the contamination and the required containment measures to prevent spore spread.

DIY with bleach is not recommended. Bleach only removes surface discoloration and does not kill the mold roots. It can also release more spores into the air, potentially worsening the problem and your family's exposure. The humid Dubai climate and constant AC use can cause the issue to recur quickly if the source moisture isn't professionally addressed and the biomass isn't fully removed.

A proper remediation involves identifying and fixing the leak, isolating the area, using HEPA filtration, and physically removing the contaminated materials. The final step should be post-remediation verification (PRV) testing by a third-party lab to confirm the air quality is safe, a service we consider essential for health assurance.
