Mold removal cost for small closet area in Dubai?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived in our Jumeirah villa for 2 years and just noticed a patch of black mold in the corner of the master bedroom closet, behind some clothes. It’s been worse since the humidity spiked last month. I’m worried it’s spreading but have no idea what it costs to get it professionally removed here. Is this a job for a specialist, and what’s a reasonable price range for a small area like this?

For a small, contained patch like a closet corner, remediation is often straightforward. The cost depends entirely on the root cause. If it's surface-level condensation from an exterior wall (common in Jumeirah's older villas), the price is lower. If it's a hidden leak from plumbing or the AC drain, the scope and cost increase.

You should first get a professional inspection to identify the moisture source. In Dubai's climate, simply wiping the mould away is ineffective; the high humidity will cause it to return. A proper assessment should include a moisture meter reading on the wall and an air quality test to check for spore spread, which is wise if it's been growing behind items for months.

For a small area with a simple cause, expect a cost reflective of targeted treatment: isolation of the area, HEPA vacuuming, antimicrobial application, and addressing the moisture source. For complex cases with hidden damage, the scope and price will be higher. Always request a detailed scope of work and ensure the company is certified by the Dubai Municipality or holds IICRC credentials. The final quote should be itemized, showing the cost for diagnostics, containment, remediation, and verification testing separately.
