Professional needed for bathroom mold in Dubai?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived here for 2 years and just noticed black mold spots growing along the ceiling and in the corners of our master bathroom in Jumeirah. The ventilation isn't great and it's gotten worse since the recent humidity. I'm worried about the health risks and if it's spread behind the tiles. Should I just tackle this myself with bleach or is it worth getting a professional mold removal company in Dubai to handle it, and what kind of cost am I looking at for a standard bathroom?

Black mold in a Dubai bathroom is a common issue due to our high humidity and condensation from air conditioning. For small, surface-level spots (less than a square foot), a DIY approach can be effective. Use a vinegar or hydrogen peroxide solution, not bleach, as bleach only removes surface color and does not kill the mold roots in porous surfaces like grout.

However, given that the mold is along the ceiling and in corners and has been developing for some time, it is very likely growing behind the tiles and within the wall. The poor ventilation confirms this is a persistent moisture issue. In these cases, professional assessment is strongly recommended. They use moisture meters and borescopes to see inside walls and determine the full extent, which is critical for proper remediation.

For a standard bathroom, professional costs vary significantly based on the infestation's severity and the materials affected. Surface cleaning is one cost; removing tiles, treating the wall cavity, and restoring the area is another. Always request a detailed assessment and quote that outlines the scope of work. A reputable company will provide documented before-and-after proof of remediation, such as lab reports, to verify the mold has been properly addressed. This is the only way to be sure the health risk is managed and the problem won't return with the next humidity spike.
