Should I call a pro for mold in my closet?« Back to Previous Page

My bedroom and walk-in closet in our villa in Jumeirah have felt really clammy for the past month, and I’ve just spotted a small patch of black mold on the back wall of the closet. The AC is running constantly, but the air still feels heavy and damp when you walk in. Is this something I need to call a professional about urgently, or are there effective DIY solutions I can try first this weekend?

Based on the symptoms you've described—a persistent clammy feel despite constant AC and visible black mold—I would strongly recommend you call a professional for an inspection immediately. This is not a typical DIY weekend project.

In the UAE's extreme climate, an AC running constantly but failing to dehumidify properly is a major red flag. It indicates a potential issue with the unit's capacity, a significant infiltration of humid external air, or, most critically, a problem within your villa's ductwork itself, such as a breach or insufficient insulation causing condensation. The mold in your closet is a symptom of a systemic humidity problem.

The presence of black mold (Stachybotrys chartarum or others) necessitates a professional assessment. Disturbing it through DIY cleaning can aerosolize toxic spores, spreading the contamination throughout your bedroom and HVAC system. Our protocol involves containing the area, using industrial-grade HEPA filtration to clean the air, and applying specialized, non-toxic biocides to remediate the mold at its source.

More importantly, we must identify and rectify the cause of the moisture. This requires diagnostic tools like thermal imaging and moisture meters to find hidden condensation points within the walls or ceiling that you cannot see.

For your health and the integrity of your property, please do not attempt to handle this yourself. Contact our team for a comprehensive assessment. Call us at 800-MOLDS or 800-66537, or email hello@saniservice.com. We can schedule a visit to your Jumeirah villa and provide a detailed remediation plan.
