Should I call an AC technician for a grinding noise?« Back to Previous Page

The AC in our master bedroom has started making a weird grinding noise for the last two nights, and it's definitely not as cold as it used to be. It's keeping the room somewhat cool, but with this heat, I'm worried it'll just stop completely. Is this something I need to call a technician for immediately, or can it wait until the weekend?

Based on the symptoms you've described – a grinding noise and reduced cooling capacity – you absolutely should call a certified technician for an inspection, and I would not recommend waiting until the weekend.
The grinding noise is a critical indicator of a mechanical failure within the compressor or the fan motor assembly. In the extreme UAE climate, these components are under immense strain. A grinding sound often points to failing bearings, a seized motor, or a compromised compressor. Continuing to run the unit in this state risks a catastrophic failure, leading to a complete breakdown and a far more expensive repair bill. The fact that cooling performance has already degraded confirms the system is severely compromised. Under Dubai Municipality regulations, any work on AC systems, especially those involving refrigerant handling or major component replacement, must be performed by a DC-certified technician. Attempting a DIY fix or hiring an unqualified handyman is not only unsafe but also illegal for such tasks. Your situation requires immediate professional diagnosis. The technician will need to inspect the unit to determine if it's a case of motor bearing replacement, a failing compressor, or another internal issue. Given the heat, a complete failure now would be unbearable. Please, for your comfort and to prevent further damage, call our certified team immediately at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com to schedule an emergency inspection. |
