Should I move furniture before a mold inspection?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived here for 2 years and just noticed a bunch of black spots spreading on the wall behind our bedroom wardrobe in Jumeirah Village Circle. It's been super humid lately and I'm worried it's mold. What's the best way to get a proper mold inspection done, and should I move the furniture myself before they come?

Leave all furniture in place until the inspector arrives. Moving items yourself can disturb settled mold spores, spreading them to other areas and contaminating the sample collection process. A key part of the inspection is assessing the conditions exactly as they are, including airflow patterns blocked by the wardrobe that contribute to the problem.

In Jumeirah Village Circle, the recent humidity combined with year-round AC use creates ideal conditions for wall mold, especially behind large furniture where condensation forms. A proper inspection here involves more than a visual check; it includes moisture mapping with a protimeter to find the water source and air/surface sampling to identify the species.

For a verifiable assessment, ensure the company uses a Dubai Central Lab-approved facility to analyze samples. This confirms the mold type and informs the correct remediation method. After the inspection and testing, the inspector will advise on what needs to be moved and how to do it safely to begin any necessary remediation.
