Should I remove bathroom mold myself or call a professional?« Back to Previous Page

My master bathroom in our Jumeirah villa has this stubborn black mold growing in the grout between the floor tiles. It's gotten way worse since the humidity kicked in a couple of months ago, and no matter how much I scrub with bleach, it just comes back. I'm worried about it spreading behind the walls. Is this something I can tackle myself with a stronger product, or should I just call a professional cleaning company?

Based on the conditions you've described in your Jumeirah villa, I strongly recommend against a DIY approach and advise calling a professional for an inspection. The combination of persistent black mold, high UAE humidity, and the fact that it's returning after bleach cleaning are major red flags.

Here’s why: Bleach is a surface-level treatment that doesn't address the root cause—the moisture source. In our climate, the high humidity provides a constant water source, allowing mold to thrive deep within the porous grout and, as you correctly fear, potentially behind the walls. Scrubbing can also aerosolize spores, spreading the contamination to other areas of your home.

A professional inspection is crucial. We use moisture meters and thermal imaging cameras to detect hidden dampness within walls and under tiles that you cannot see. This identifies the true extent of the problem, which is almost always worse than it appears. For remediation, we don't just clean; we use industrial-grade antimicrobial agents to penetrate and kill the mold colonies at their root, followed by sealing to prevent regrowth. We also identify and correct the ventilation or leakage issue causing the problem, which is essential in our humid environment.

For a villa of that caliber and for your family's health, a professional assessment is the only way to guarantee it's resolved properly. Please give our team a call for a thorough inspection. Call 800-MOLDS or 800-66537 or you can email us at hello@saniservice.com.
