Should I remove this wall mold myself or call a professional?« Back to Previous Page

Our family villa in Al Barsha has been feeling really humid since the last bout of heavy fog a few weeks ago. I just pulled out a storage box from the guest room wardrobe and found a patch of black mold on the wall behind it. I'm handy with a bleach spray for surface stuff, but this seems like it's grown into the wall. Should I attempt to clean this myself or is it time to call a professional mold inspection company in Dubai?

The black mold growth behind your wardrobe in Al Barsha is a common issue here, especially after heavy fog. Since it has grown into the wall, a DIY bleach spray will likely only remove surface discoloration and not the root structure (hyphae) penetrating the porous material.

For this situation, a professional inspection is strongly recommended. They can use moisture meters and thermal imaging to locate the moisture source—often condensation from AC lines running in walls, a small leak, or vapor drive from the humid exterior. Simply cleaning the visible spot without fixing the underlying cause guarantees it will return.

In Dubai’s climate, indoor mold can proliferate rapidly due to high ambient humidity and constant AC use creating condensation points. A proper inspection will identify the mold species, which dictates the required remediation protocol. Some species require containment to prevent spreading spores during removal.

Look for a provider that offers detailed documentation of the inspection findings, including moisture readings and lab analysis from a certified microbiology lab. This evidence-based approach ensures the solution targets the actual problem, not just the symptom.
