Urgent need for mold inspection in Dubai villa?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived in our villa in Al Barsha for about five years, but this past week I noticed a few small black spots in the corner of our master bedroom closet. After the heavy dew we've been getting in the mornings, there's a definite damp smell in that entire room. How urgently do I need to get a professional mold inspection, or can I just try to clean it myself first?

The damp smell and visible spots in your Al Barsha villa warrant a professional inspection. Dubai's high humidity and heavy dew create ideal conditions for mould, especially in closets and behind walls where condensation from AC systems can accumulate unseen.

A small patch you can clean with a vinegar solution might be manageable, but the persistent damp odour suggests a larger, hidden moisture source. In many villas, this is from a leaking pipe, roof infiltration, or condensation within the AC ductwork serving that room. Disturbing it yourself can aerosolise spores and spread the problem.

Professional inspection identifies the species and the moisture source. They use moisture meters and thermal cameras to find hidden dampness without guesswork. For a definitive diagnosis, a lab analysis of a tape-lift or air sample is needed, which is critical if household members have allergies or respiratory issues.

You should address this within a few weeks before the next major dew event. Delaying allows the colony to grow, making remediation more complex. Look for an inspector who provides a detailed report with moisture readings and lab results, not just a visual assessment.
