Urgent need for mold inspection in Dubai?« Back to Previous Page

We've lived here for 2 years and just noticed some black speckles appearing in the corner of our master bedroom closet, which is on an interior wall. It's been extra humid the last few weeks and I'm worried it's spreading. How urgently do we need to get a professional mold inspection here in Dubai, or is this something we can handle ourselves first?

That black speckle pattern on an interior wall, especially during a humid period, warrants immediate attention but not necessarily panic. In Dubai's climate, interior walls can develop condensation if there's a temperature differential (like from an AC duct running inside it), creating a perfect breeding ground for mold.

For a small, isolated patch (under one square foot), you can cautiously clean it yourself with a vinegar or diluted bleach solution, wearing an N95 mask and gloves. However, since this is in a closet where spores can be disturbed and spread to clothing, and you're concerned it's growing, a professional inspection is strongly advised. They can identify the moisture source—which is the critical part—and determine if the growth is superficial or has penetrated the building materials.

The urgency is high for identifying the root cause. Left unchecked, the moisture problem will continue, and the mold will return even after cleaning. A certified inspector uses moisture meters and thermal imaging to find hidden dampness you can't see and can take samples for lab analysis to identify the species, which informs the correct remediation protocol. This is crucial for ensuring it is properly resolved.
