Urgent to clean AC mold in Mirdif bedroom?« Back to Previous Page

Our AC unit in the master bedroom of our villa in Mirdif has been leaking a bit of water onto the carpet for about ten days. I just pulled the carpet corner back and found a patch of black and green mold about the size of a dinner plate underneath. Given how humid it's been, how urgently do I need to get this professionally cleaned before it becomes a major health hazard?

Based on your description, this situation requires immediate professional attention. A dinner-plate-sized patch of black and green mold growth resulting from AC condensate leakage is a significant concern, especially in a bedroom where you spend extended periods.

The continuous leak has created a saturated environment, which is an ideal breeding ground for mold. The colors you describe (black and green) suggest the potential presence of multiple species, some of which can produce mycotoxins and allergens. Given Dubai's high humidity levels, even with AC, this mold colony can rapidly propagate into the carpet backing, underlay, and even the subfloor if left unaddressed. Spores will become airborne every time you walk near the area or the AC unit turns on, posing a respiratory health hazard.

Do not attempt to clean this yourself with bleach or store-bought solutions. These are ineffective on porous materials like carpet and can actually aggravate the problem by releasing a concentrated burst of spores into the air. Disturbing the area without proper containment and HEPA filtration equipment is not advised.

The required action is a professional mold inspection and remediation. Our certified inspectors will conduct a thorough assessment to determine the full extent of the contamination, identify the mold species, and provide a detailed protocol for safe, effective remediation. This process involves containment, HEPA vacuuming, antimicrobial treatment, and addressing the root cause—the AC leak—to prevent recurrence.

For a situation like this in Mirdif, I strongly recommend you contact our team immediately. Call Saniservice at 800-MOLDS (800-66537) or email hello@saniservice.com to schedule an urgent inspection.
