Urgent to clean black mold in Jumeirah AC?« Back to Previous Page

The AC in my bedroom has been making a weird damp smell for the last couple of weeks, and this morning I finally pulled the filter out and found black, fuzzy spots all over the inside of the unit. I live in a high-rise in Jumeirah Lakes Towers and the humidity has been brutal lately. How urgently do I need to get this professionally cleaned to avoid a bigger health or property damage issue?

Based on your description of black, fuzzy spots inside the AC unit and the accompanying damp smell, this is a strong indication of active mold growth. Given the high humidity levels we are experiencing in Dubai, this is an urgent situation that requires immediate professional attention.

The constant condensation within AC systems, especially during our humid summer months, creates an ideal breeding ground for mold. The spores being circulated from your bedroom unit can significantly impact indoor air quality, potentially leading to respiratory irritation, allergic reactions, and other health concerns. Furthermore, prolonged growth can lead to more extensive microbial contamination within the ductwork and the unit itself, resulting in costly repairs and property damage.

We strongly recommend you cease operation of the affected AC unit immediately to prevent further spore dissemination. Do not attempt to clean it yourself, as improper handling can agitate the colony, causing a massive release of spores into your living space.

A certified mold inspection is critical. Our specialists at Saniservice use fiber-optic borescopes to inspect the internal evaporator coils and ductwork, which are areas you cannot see. We then perform ATP and mold air quality testing to identify the species and concentration levels, which dictates the correct remediation protocol. This is not a simple cleaning; it requires specialized equipment like HEPA vacuums and antimicrobial coatings to properly resolve the issue and prevent recurrence.
