Urgent to hire professional for bedroom mold removal?« Back to Previous Page

My kids have been coughing and I suspect it's from the black spots I just found behind our bedroom wardrobe in Silicon Oasis. It's been incredibly humid for the last month and I think the wall never properly dried out after the last time the AC condensation leaked. How urgent is it that I get a professional mold removal company in here, or is this something I can handle myself with bleach and a dehumidifier this weekend?

This is a high-priority situation that warrants a professional inspection. The combination of visible black spots, a known moisture source (AC condensation leak), and your children's respiratory symptoms means this is not a DIY bleach project. In Dubai's persistent humidity, surface cleaning with bleach only bleaches the colour; the living mould roots (hyphae) remain deep within the gypsum board and will return quickly.

For a child's bedroom, the risk of exposure from airborne spores during a DIY attempt is significant and could worsen their coughing. A professional assessment will determine the extent of the moisture damage behind the wall and identify the mould species, as some types common in AC systems and damp walls are more problematic for respiratory health than others.

The remediation process itself requires containment—sealing the area with plastic sheeting and running HEPA-filtered air scrubbers to prevent spreading spores throughout your home. This is not feasible to replicate safely yourself. After the mould is properly removed, the underlying cause (the condensation leak and trapped moisture in the wall) must be diagnosed and repaired to prevent immediate recurrence. Start with a certified inspection to get a clear scope of the problem and a remediation plan.
