Urgent to treat black mold in humid Dubai villa?« Back to Previous Page

We’ve lived in our Jumeirah villa for 2 years and just noticed a patch of black spots spreading on the wall behind our wardrobe. It’s an interior wall, but the room always feels more humid than the rest of the house. Given the summer humidity, how urgently do I need to get a professional to deal with this, or can it wait a few weeks?

A spreading patch of black mold on an interior wall in a humid room should be addressed within days, not weeks. Dubai's summer humidity provides the constant moisture mold needs to rapidly colonize porous materials like drywall and can spread into the structure itself.

The persistent humidity you describe points to a hidden moisture source, likely a small plumbing leak within the wall or significant condensation from the AC system. The wardrobe traps humid air against the wall, creating a perfect microclimate for growth. While surface cleaning with a diluted vinegar solution can temporarily reduce visible spots, it will not address the root moisture problem or any hidden growth inside the cavity.

Professional assessment is strongly recommended in this case. A certified inspector will use moisture meters and thermal imaging to locate the water source without destructive probing. They can then determine if the drywall can be salvaged or must be replaced. Delaying action risks the mold spreading to other areas and can lead to more extensive and costly structural repairs. Resolving the underlying moisture issue is the only way to prevent it from returning.
